The MisinLink - biography

Born in Soweto, raised in the Northern suburbs, Teboho Lechela (aka The MisinLink), grew up with hip hop music, having acquired a taste for it at at an early age.

But why become a rapper? "Firstly, the rhythm and the rhymes are part of who I am. It was logical that I would pursue the creation of expression in a medium that speaks with my message. But, more than that, knowing that there was so much music that I was very judgmental towards, I figured that if I can't do it better, then I am not in the position to judge..." And so the 1st song was written in 2008.

Two years after the first rhymes were scribbled, The MisinLink's 'Ride with the Rhythm' mixtape was released, creating a buzz in the streets of Randburg,  Soweto & Kagiso. The MisinLink will regularly be seen on the stages of the local underground hip hop sessions including Splash Jam, Kagiso's AFMP sessions and 1808. Having worked with the likes of Fulskillakilla, Articulate Artists and Mental Odessey (to mention but a few), The MisinLink does not exclude himself from the affluent street culture of the local hip hop scene, whether be it performing live on stage, freestyling in cyphers or just merely sharing knowledge - his ability to stick with a concept through out a track is applauded by his audience and peers alike.

Music influences: Master Ace, ProVerb, Wordsworth, The Last emperor.

Why The MisinLink? "Ummm... well, I have acquired an outlook on life from the company that I currently work for, "Missing Link", and I guess it all came from friends calling me exactly that (because of the amount of time I spend at the office, grafting my balls off - it talks to a work ethic I bring into business and into my music). Some would say it's also because of my ability to go out of my way to bring people together... and so I ran with it."
